About SUDO

Located amongst the great expanses of Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido, SUDO Construction designs and builds unique homes that utilize the plentiful resources of this bountiful land. With a history in Hokkaido that dates back to 1918 as master craftsmen for the building of shrines, we have developed a wealth of knowledge and skills that we use today to build homes and other buildings in the unique Hokkaido environment. With the opening of our branch office in Chiba in 1988, we are also applying our unique skills in designing and building homes for many satisfied customers in other parts of Japan.
With annual revenue of over 3 billion yen, we pride ourselves in developing strong relationships with our customers before, during and after the construction process. We are a dedicated team, 50 members strong; including 44 highly trained professional architects, construction engineers, site foremen and real estate professionals handling a broad scope of projects.

SUDO History

1917
Sudo Koujirou, a craftsman from Yamaguchi prefecture, moves to Hokkaido
1918
Construction of Toyoura Shrine under the guidance and supervision of company founder, Koujiro Sudo
1950
Founder Sudo registers as construction worker under new regulations
1957
Registration of architectural office, 2nd grade
1963
Sudo Construction embarked on its journey under the second generation leadership of Kouichi Sudo
1969
Establishment of SUDO Construction Co., Ltd.
1977
Establishment of architectural office 1st grade
1981
Head office moved to Date city
1982
Start of RC (Reinforced Concrete) home construction
1985
・Establishment of residential buidling division
・Joint research with Muroran Institute of Technology on the efficiency of RC exterior insulation methods
1988
Third generation leader Toshiyuki Sudo assumed position as Managing Director and President

Establishment of East Kanto sales office in Chiba prefecture

RC exterior insulation (Date no Ie) wins the Japan Institute of Architects competition
